DRAGON (Chapter 22) Livonia, Michigan 14 November 2009

MASCOT members Tad Rykojc, Mark Bange, Gino Salvi, Mike Molinaro and Saoud Rihan visited Livonia, Michigan to compete in Chapter 22's American Singer show.  Joined there by 15 other contestants largely from ASC Chapters in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois, MASCOT's representatives faced perhaps their stiffest competition of the year in a field of 194 birds.  Judge Steve Baptiste of Punta Gorda, Florida listened to 12 old bird classes and 13 young bird classes and selected an old bird bred by Saoud Rihan as best in show.  This was Saoud's fourth win of the year.  Also making an impressive showing from MASCOT was Tad Rykojc who scored two old birds in the top ten plus he had the best hen in the show.    Additionally, Tad recieved a prestigious honor when he was awarded the "Order of the Dragon" for the good work he has done to promote the American Singer hobby. A DRAGON show is a very special event and a festive occasion.  In addition to serving their guests pizza and salad after Friday night's benching,  the members of DRAGON also hosted a Harvest Dinner of turkey and dressing on Saturday afternoon.   Plus there was an auction and a raffle of many nice prizes.  MASCOT's visitors express their sincere appreciation to show manager, Tom Yang, and secretary Marie Russell for organizing such a superb event. Also, we thank the kitchen organizers Judy Snider, Charlie Schembri and all their volunteers who fed us so well.  Donna Machniak ran a fine raffle and the trophies and rosettes obtained by Alberta Riedel and Judy Snider were truly top notch. In all ways, DRAGON hosted a first class show and MASCOT's representatives were honored to participate. The final standings, subject to ASC approval, along with photos of the day follow below.
