Delaware Valley American Singer Club Chapter 44 Levittown, PA 19 November 2011 |
Judge Danny Iacovone listened to 185 birds entered by 20 contestants and determined that Best-in-Show honors belonged to Paul and Cheryl Ferguson at Chapter 44's second annual song contest. Rounding out the ASC medallion spots were Aji and Dodi Sunjaya who finished 2nd and Laura and John Schwanof who finished 3rd.
Other top ten finishers were Saoud Rihan in 5th place, Ronnie DeMuro in 6th, Tom and Celia Miller in 7th, and Dr. Mark Guy of Pittsburgh in 10th. The top novice award went to Andre Dight.
Once again Rob and Sharen Virgin and Ronnie DeMuro organized a superior show. From the spacious venue to the delicious lunch and breakfast buffets to a well-stocked raffle table, their hard work paid off in a thoroughly enjoyable day for all contestants and visitors. Kathy Steckler served both as secretary and show brewmeister by bringing samples of her tasty home brews for the lunch buffet. Sharen Virgin set out fine spreads for breakfast and lunch with food contributions from many and Ronnie raffled off many terrific home prizes and bird supplies. Rob Virgin staged 25 classes with help from Jeanne Pieper, Mark Bange and others acting as stewards. Lastly, William Bradford set up an avian phtotography studio to take pictures of American Singers of various colors. Several contestants enjoyed seeing their birds photographed in such a professional setting.
In only two years, Chapter 44 has become an elite show. Kudos to Sharen and Robert and Ronnie for giving American Singer hobbyists another fine ASC event.
The final standings, subject to ASC approval, along with photos of the day follow below.
