MASCOT's Jeanne Pieper and Luis Sorto led a field of 14 contestants who entered 190 birds in the American Singer portion of MACC's 21st Annual Fall Classic. Judge Laura Schwanof determined that Jeanne won best-in-show and had the highest scoring old bird with her yellow C-002-05, while Luis won best young bird with his dark variegated L-534-09.  Laura commented that the birds in total sang beautifully all day and never before had she awarded so many rendition scores exceeding 50 points.

MASCOT's remaining participants were Mark Bange, Tad, Rykojc, Robert and Sharen Virgin, Akbar Karbasi, and Gino Salvi.  In addition, our friends from the northern ASC Chapters were well represented with Kathy Steckler, Sam Can and Tom and Celia Miller traveling from New Jersey.  Saoud Rihan and Walter Larsen joined us from New York.  Ronnie DeMuro made the trip from Pennsylvania and perhaps most impressive, Stan Jones braved the miles and U.S. customs officials by coming all the way from Quebec, Canada.

Also noteworthy was another impressive performance by Saoud Rihan who finished second and fourth overall and won a Lenox bowl as the highest scoring MACC member.  Luis Sorto and Walter Larsen were the top two novices in addition to earning places on the final bench.

It was great to see everyone again and to catch up on the family happenings and news that occured since we last gathered.

As usual, Tad Rykojc ran a flawless show with his efficient organization of 8 old bird classes (54 singers) and 18 young bird classes (136 entries.)  Jeanne Pieper served as secretary and a host of people served as stewards.  We thank them all for jumping in to help when needed.

A few pictures of the day and the unofficial results pending ASC approval follow:
