Maryland All Canary Club (MACC) Towson, MD 1 October 2011

Fourteen American Singer contestants came to MACC's sparkling new show site at the Best Western Hotel in Towson, MD.  Judge Mike Seiler listened to 22 classes and 166 birds and determined that an old bird bred by Mark Bange deserved the title of Best-In-Show.  For his top finish Mark also won a crystal dish as MACC's tribute to the late Marilyn Simons, a noted American Singer breeder from Maryland.   Mark also had the 6th Best-In-Show with another Old Bird and the 3rd Best Young Bird.   Aji and Dodi Sunjaya finished second overall, but most important, they garnered the additional points necessary to make their Cinnamon Old Bird the newest American Singer Grand Champion.  Aji and Dodi also had the 4th Best Old Bird, the 4th Best Young Bird and the 7th Best-In-Show.  Tad Rykojc took the 3rd medal spot with an Old Bird.   Tad also had the 5th Best-In-Show and the first two positions of the Young Birds.  Akbar Karbasi rounded out the top bench by taking home the trophy for the 5th Best Young Bird.  Each of these contestants are MASCOT members, giving our club a clean sweep of MACC's American Singer Division Top Bench.  Tad Rykojc expertly classed and staged the birds, presenting 122 young birds and 44 old birds to Judge Seiler.   Jeanne Pieper graciously served as the secretary at this event for the second year in a row.  Stewards included all of the contestants, each of whom at one point or another ferried birds to and from the stretchers.   Thanks to all who participated and helped. We offer special thanks the officers of the Maryland All Canary Club, principally president Richard Drought, and the entire show committee who hosted our American Singer Division as part of their Annual Fall Classic.   We appreciate their hospitality and their inclusion of us into their show.  We also appreciated their new location and its many amenities. Several MASCOT members are heading to Sandusky, Ohio next week for ASC Chapter 32's American Singer Show.  Others are going to Quebec for ASC Chapter 41's Quadruple Show.  We wish them well.
